Does this sound like you?
You can’t stop your mind — you replay conversations, overthink texts, or wondering if you said the wrong thing long after it’s over.
You avoid stressful situations - Confronting situations is difficult and it is easier to pretend it is not happening.
It’s hard to feel good about yourself —You compare yourself to other people, replay thoughts of your mistakes, and fear how others see you.
You want to feel stable — You have shifts in your mood, you are easily irritable, feel sad or anxious, and feel stuck.
Coping with life feels harder than it should right now — you’ve tried to do the work, but it still feels like nothing is really helping, and sometimes it’s like you can’t even breathe.
If this sounds familiar, therapy can help you develop steadier emotions, clearer thinking, and relationships that feel secure rather than draining — all through supportive virtual sessions for adults in Boca Raton and throughout Florida.
In our work together you can expect to…
Understand yourself better and improve self-esteem by exploring the patterns and behaviors you want to change, connect you with things you enjoy, and build on the strengths you already have.
Feel more in control by reducing impulsive reactions, and replace coping strategies that leave you feeling worse afterward.
Stop repeating the same patterns by building awareness and confidence in your choices to start trusting yourself.
Learn to confront avoidance by developing the confidence to approach difficult situations.
Learn to communicate better to connect better in relationships so they are less tense and easier to navigate.
Feel more emotionally balanced by coping well with everyday stress.
Meet Dr. Amanda Werdann-Mendez, LCSW
Trauma Therapist in Boca Raton, FL
Virtual Therapy available throughout Florida
Hi! I am Dr. Amanda. I help adults who feel overwhelmed by intense emotions, stuck in patterns they want to change, and are ready for solutions. Many of my clients have experienced trauma and now find themselves dealing with anxiety, depression, irritability, low self-esteem, mood shifts, and relationship struggles.
In our work together, we will look at how your past experiences may still be shaping your reactions, your relationships, and the way you see yourself today. I will help you to notice patterns as they show up, identify where they come from, and build new ways of responding that feel more grounded and aligned with who you want to be.
I will help you explore and process emotional experiences, so they stop showing up in the same painful ways in your present life. I help people move from understanding their patterns to shifting them. Over time, the goal is for things to feel less overwhelmed, for relationships to feel more stable, and for you to feel more grounded and connected to yourself.
If this resonates, virtual therapy in Boca Raton and throughout Florida is here to support you in creating a life that feels calmer, clearer, and more connected.

When your emotions feel bigger than everyone else’s
You might find yourself questioning your reactions, replaying conversations, or wondering why certain situations affect you so deeply. For many adults, it’s not that they’re "too sensitive," it’s that they’ve spent years carrying emotional wounds, navigating unstable relationships, or learning to protect themselves from being hurt.
You may fear being abandoned, even by people who care about you. You might feel overwhelmed by intense emotions, struggle to trust others, or find yourself reacting in ways that don’t reflect who you want to be. Relationships can feel confusing, you want closeness but also fear rejection, criticism, or disappointment.
If you often feel misunderstood, experience rapid shifts in emotions, struggle with self-worth, or find yourself stuck in painful relationship patterns, you’re not alone. These experiences can be exhausting, but they don’t have to define your life. With my support, it’s possible to better understand your emotions, strengthen your relationships, and feel more confident in yourself.
Qualified Supervision for Registered Social Work Interns
Working toward independent licensure can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Qualified supervision provides a supportive space to strengthen your clinical skills, build confidence, and navigate the challenges of developing your professional identity as a therapist.
Through supervision, we focus on case consultation, ethical decision-making, and developing your unique therapeutic style. My goal is to help you grow into a competent, confident clinician while meeting the requirements for licensure.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
My fee is $225 for a 50-minute session, whether individual or couples. Extended sessions are available, with each additional 30 minutes billed at $112. A limited sliding scale is offered based on financial need.
-
I do not accept insurance as payment for services. If you wish to seek reimbursement, I will provide you with a monthly superbill that you may submit directly to your insurance company under your out-of-network benefits, as applicable. I encourage you to contact your insurance carrier to understand your specific out-of-network mental health coverage and reimbursement rates.
I do not participate in insurance panels because many insurance companies impose strict limitations on the length, frequency, and type of treatment that can be provided. These restrictions can influence clinical decisions and may limit the depth or duration of care.
Benefits of working with an out-of-network provider:
Clinical flexibility. Our work is guided by your needs rather than insurance authorizations, session caps, or mandated treatment models.
Individualized treatment. I am able to design care that is thoughtful, intentional, and tailored specifically to you without external oversight shaping the process.
Enhanced privacy. Insurance companies typically require a mental health diagnosis and access to certain treatment information. Working out-of-network allows your personal health information to remain more private.
Continuity of care. Treatment is less likely to be interrupted by policy changes, coverage limits, or authorization expirations.
Client-centered decision making. The direction of your therapy is determined by what best supports your well-being, not by insurance guidelines.

I meet with clients for 50-minute sessions and offer extended sessions when scheduled in advance. Sessions are typically held once or twice per week, depending on your needs, goals, and budget. I recommend committing to weekly sessions for the first six months to establish a strong foundation and ensure consistent support. As we track your progress, we will collaborate to determine if transitioning to bi-weekly sessions is appropriate.
-
Yes, I offer intensive therapy sessions that go beyond the traditional 50-minute model. These extended sessions typically range from 90 minutes to 2 hours per day and can be scheduled as one session per week or multiple days.
Intensive therapy is a great option if you’re looking to make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time or if your schedule makes it difficult to attend weekly sessions. I offer intensives for both individuals and relationships, tailored to your specific goals and needs.
